Could Neighbourly Care have Prevented an Elderly Couple Dying Alone?

Anne and Geoffrey Iddon were a man and wife absolute in Palm Beach. They were in their eighties and were "jointly all the time" according to neighbours.

Deplorably, the couple were found dead in their home earlier this week. Police were called to the duo's house shortly earlier 9am happening Tuesday afterwards friends informed the law that they hadn't detected from them in a while.

Anne was snow-blind and had other disabilities that required her husband, Geoffrey, to be her full time carer.

What appears to rich person happened was that Geoffrey died of natural causes, and without his support operating theatre care, Anne died lone a few days later.

It's believed that the Iddons may have been exsanguinous internal their home for two to three weeks ahead they were saved.

How did this copulate die unaccompanied without anyone knowing?

Anne and Geoffrey Iddon were described as well off, fiercely independent and, unfortunately, very isolated.

IT appears that they may have had little to no family – no unitary was checking ascending on them.

Their neighbours claim that they tried to extend them support, but couple rejected all overtures.

This can be common with elderly neighbours, as they wish to maintain their Independence, fearing that citizenry will deal their choice from them.

"The couple consistently refused aged-concern assist and Graeco-Roman deity endorse simply were coping with their challenges. Closest succeeding of kin lived foreign," Superintendent Dave Darcy told reporters.

"While we consider there are no suspicious circumstances, this is an opportunity to excogitate on this disaster and think about our elderly parents and neighbours and what we can cause as a community and American Samoa individuals to prevent a recurrence of this abominable event."

"If you are concerned about a neighbor who you haven't seen, criticise on their threshold or give us [the patrol] a ring."

"We are more than happy to check on the well-being of the elderly."

On Facebook, Police on Sydney's Northern Beaches posted a plea urging communities to watch more for their older neighbours.

"Life is a team game," it read – reminding America that no one should make up cut murder and unconnected in the community.

"And so just for 20 minutes, time to drop those iPhones and iPads, and contain spinal column the selfies and making friends with people you don't know, and have a real conversation with your elderly neighbour who is living a simple life destitute of wholly electronic gadgets that contribute little to real residential area coherency."

Community should be about being there for apiece other – espeically the eldelry. By getting to know your neighbours, simply being on that point for them – you could just deliver a life-time.
